EB-2 Visa Priority Date Expected to Advance in May 2011
The Chief of Immigrant Visa Control and Reporting Division at the U.S. Department of State informed American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) that a substantial reduction in the use of EB-1 numbers is going to possibly help EB-2 visa priority date to advance. AILA has been informed that the Dept. of State has seen a decline in EB-1 filings, and that it does not expect a change in the EB-1 number use pattern. As a result, the unused EB-1 numbers are expected to be added to EB-2 category thereby assisting in advancing the priority date. It is indicated that at least 12,000 additional numbers will be available to the EB-2 category allowing for specifically advancing the India priority date.
