Any U.S. Consulate in India Will Now Accept Visa Applications Regardless of Residence

November 22, 2010

On November 18, 2010, the U.S. Embassy in New Delhi announced that U.S. Consulates in India will now accept visa applications from individuals irrespective of their state of residence.  This is a big shift from the previous policy where applicants were only allowed to apply at a U.S. Consulate that had jurisdiction over an applicant’s state of residence.  This new rule will greatly help reduce the wait times/processing times at U.S. Consulates in India.
