Alarming ICE Detainee Deaths

The Department of Homeland Security’s immigration enforcement arm known as U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) released a list of detainee deaths while in its custody.  Between October 2003 and May 2010 (79 months), there were 111 deaths in total.  This is alarming given more than one death per month (111 deaths in 79 months) and raises the critical question of conditions of detainees while in ICE custody.  Deaths in ICE Custody
