Immigrant of the Month – Riccardo Giacconi

Born in Italy in 1931, Riccardo Giacconi grew up in Italy and obtained a degree in Science from University of Milan.  Thereafter, he moved to the United States where he went on to undertake research in the field of astrophysics.  In 2002, Mr. Giacconi was awarded Nobel Prize in the field of Physics for his pioneering contributions to astrophysics, which have led to the discovery of cosmic X-ray sources.  Mr. Giacconi is currently a U.S. citizen.  Here’s congratulating and thanking Mr. Giacconi for his notable contributions to the field of astrophysics.
