H-1B Quota Update

November 17, 2009 Leave a comment Go to comments

The USCIS annouced that as of November 6, 2009, it received 54,700 H-1B petitions which are counted in the general H-1B quota (out of a possible 58,200).  The advanced degree holders quota reached the cap sometime ago.  The recent surge in H-1B filings, specifically in the past 4-6 weeks, is a likely indicator that –

1) the economy is showing signs of improvement.

2) there is a shortage of skilled professionals in certain industries.
